Another shot from the day out with PJ ()and Darren(http://www.flickr.com/photos/22778401@N05/). At the time of the photo I was wishing the fallen tree hadn't been there, but afterwards I realized that it was what made the photo for me..

How beautiful can creation get? Great image Dylan! The cross pine and BW treatment, along with the water's movement is so appealing in this shot.

The water does look like silk. I'm going to show my ignorance publicly, but I did that one other time:-), so it doesn't really matter. Why doesn't it look like water? Is it the camera setting or processing. Keep in mind, I just push the button:-)

@sherri: Sherri,
In order for the water to look like that you need a low shutter speed. In this case it was 2 seconds. The necessary time varies depending on the amount of water there is and the look you want.

I think this one is lovely. The sliky treatment of the flowing water is excellent, I like your straight-on perspective, and the large branch across the middle, while not a "post card element," add perspective and interest. And I also love waterfalls in B&W, which you have converted quite well.

Excellent capture. Goes very well in B&W. I believe the slanted tree is a nice addition. That is the way nature made it. The scene was waiting for you.

A very nice picture. The waterfall is of course pretty, but that branch is great. Just look at Japanese art and you'll see how often this kind of feature is used to enliven the picture. Rather than seeing it as an impediment, work with it and see how it can make an otherwise standard shot unusual. Just a thought.
